What Is Whiplash?
Whiplash is a spinal injury in which the muscles and connective tissues are torn away from the spinal column or otherwise injured. It is very common among people who have been in motor vehicle accidents. Physical symptoms of whiplash, which may be felt immediately or not at all until several days have passed after the accident, include neck pain, neck stiffness, headaches, dizziness, shoulder pain and back pain. Unfortunately, it is often difficult to diagnose, since soft tissue injuries do not show up on regular X-rays and may not even show up on an MRI. Stand-up MRIs and CAT scans can be more effective, but sometimes there is no objective sign of an injury, just the excruciating pain associated with it.
Of the more than 3 million new whiplash injuries estimated to occur each year, the majority of people heal within about three months. However, a significant number of people experience scar tissue build-up during the healing process and continue to suffer neck and back pain, and restricted movement for years. These injuries are permanent.
At The McLeod Firm, we take your pain seriously. We listen. We make sure your voice is heard in the process of bringing your claim to the insurance company, or when necessary, to court. Our objective is always to get you the full financial compensation you need so you can move forward with your life.
